When you arrive at Hearing Health Clinic, our front desk staff will greet you and get you checked in for your appointment. You’ll be guided to sit and relax in our waiting room while your audiologist is notified that you’ve arrived, and at your appointment time, they’ll come and bring you back to their office to begin the appointment.

We highly recommend that you bring a loved one with you to act as a second pair of ears during your initial consultation, as it can be a lot of information to take in at once.

After your audiologist collects you from the waiting room, they’ll bring you back to their office for an initial conversation about you: your health history, family history, lifestyle choices, medications you take, and more. We like to get to know our patients on a personal level because you’re a new part of our community, but this first chat also helps us narrow down potential causes for your hearing loss and learn more about what you’re looking for regarding treatment options. Then, your audiologist will look inside your ears with an otoscope to examine your outer and middle ear health; this way, we can ensure that infection or inflammation aren’t the culprit for a sudden hearing loss. We also check for earwax impaction—we can remove excess earwax for you if needed. Your comprehensive hearing test will consist of a few different examinations that test for things like how well you can decipher speech within background noise, your reaction times to audio stimuli, the range of frequencies you can hear at, and more. This part takes the longest but will provide you with a detailed audiogram of your current range of hearing. You’ll receive your results on the same day of your evaluation, and your audiologist will help guide you through what they mean so you can make the most informed decision for your hearing health, whether that’s scheduling a follow-up assessment in a year’s time or looking into hearing aids.
